The Superintendent of Hampstead Heath to be heard on Highgate Wood and Queen’s Park matters.

Play Area Improvements – Highgate Wood and Queen’s Park

The Acting Superintendent noted that play area improvements were currently taking place at both Highgate Wood and Queen’s Park. Procurement was currently being undertaken, and works were expected to begin within a fortnight on the Queen’s Park play area.

As part of efforts to achieve efficiencies at Highgate Wood he noted that the bark surface in the play area would be replaced by a rubberised surface. This was due to the fact that the bark surface was very labour intensive to maintain and this had a significant impact on the limited manpower available among staff in the Wood.

Highgate Wood - St Jude’s Storm Damage

The Superintendent noted that, as on the Heath, poor ground conditions had meant that some St Jude’s Storm damage remained to be cleared, but areas of dangerous damage such as hanging branches had already been dealt with.
