Report of the Director of Public Health.

Minutes:

The Committee received the annual report of the Director of Public Health and noted that mental health was a key issue, with one in four people experiencing a mental health problem at some point in their lives, and the government seeking to give equal weight to mental health and physical health. Members noted the underlying causes and consequences of poor mental health, and describes the particular issues for different groups in the City and Hackney: children and young people, adults, older people and the issues around substance misuse.

 

Discussions ensued regarding the levels of child poverty in the wards of Cripplegate and Aldersgate. Members thanked the Director for a useful and comprehendible reports.

 

RESOLVED – that the report be received.
