Andrew McMurtrie was elected to Common Council in 2013, as a member for Coleman Street Ward, having worked in the Ward for 25 years. He has a particular focus on the Environment and Opportunities for all, through his work on the Open Spaces and Port Health committees. Andrew is the City’s elected trustee of Thames 21, the river and environmental charity. He remains a strong advocate for young people, having Chaired the City of London Academies Trust and served as the City’s director on the London City & North YMCA Hostel. Andrew sits as a Presiding Justice in the City and Westminster Magistrates Courts and is a Court Assistant of the Salters’ Livery Company, where he Chairs the Charities Committee. Outside the City he is a Director of Stanstead Lodge Senior Club, which provides daytime activities for over 50s, and a trustee of Lord Wharton’s Charity.
