(i)  Report of Action Taken - Extension to the waiver for Guilds and Livery Companies

The Court was advised that, in accordance with the Court of Aldermen’s Standing Order 46 (urgency provisions), on 8th November 2021, the General Purposes Committee of Aldermen approved an extension to the waiver for Guilds and Livery companies to conduct their business virtually until 31 March 2022, following a request from the Livery about the Court of Aldermen’s expectations in respect of this matter. The Court noted that the Guilds and Livery companies had been advised of the decision and the matter would be further reviewed by the Magistracy and Livery Sub-Committee, the General Purposes Committee of Aldermen, and the Court of Aldermen in early 2022.

(ii) Report of Action taken – Supplemental Charter for the Worshipful Company of Dyers

The Court was advised that, in accordance with the Court of Aldermen’s Standing Order 46 (urgency provisions), on 22nd November 2021, following recommendation from the Magistracy and Livery Sub-Committee, General Purposes Committee of Aldermen approved a Supplemental Charter and the Schedule to the Supplemental Charter for the Worshipful Company of Dyers.

(iii)  Informal Resolution of thanks – The Commissioner of the City of London Police, Commissioner Ian Dyson

In noting that this would be the last meeting of the Court of Aldermen which Commissioner Dyson would attend prior to his imminent retirement from the City of London Police, the Court of Aldermen thanked the Commissioner for his service to the City of London Police, the City of London Corporation, and the Court of Aldermen. Honourable Members conveyed their very best wishes to Commissioner Dyson for the future.

 

(iv)  Resolution of Thanks – Lorraine Brook (Clerk to the Court of Aldermen, Town Clerk’s Department)

In noting that this would be the last meeting of the Court of Aldermen to be managed by Lorraine Brook (Clerk to the Court of Aldermen) prior to her departure from the City of London Corporation in January 2022, Honourable Members of the Court extended their thanks to Lorraine for her support to the Court of Aldermen since 2013. It was noted that Lorraine had worked for the City of London Corporation since 2010 and, having assumed “general manager” responsibility for the Aldermanic portfolio in 2013, had since provided comprehensive support to the General Purposes Committee of Aldermen, the Nominations Committee of Aldermen, and the Court of Aldermen. Members expressed their sincere thanks to Lorraine for her work, and her support, particularly during the Covid-19 pandemic.
