Andrew McMurtrie was elected to Common Council in 2013, as a member for Coleman Street Ward, having worked in the Ward for 25 years. He serves on the Policy and Finance committees, following his time as Chair of the Financial Investment Board and the Investment Committee. Andrew remains a strong advocate for young people, having chaired the City of London Academies Trust and served as the City’s director on the City YMCA Hostel. He sits as a Presiding Justice at City and Westminster Magistrates Courts and is a Court Assistant of both the Salters’ Livery Company and the Worshipful Company of Parish Clerks. Outside the City he is Chair of the Investment committee of the Diocese of Southwark, where he is on the Diocesan Board of Trustees, is a Churchwarden of St Augustine Honor Oak Park and a Director of Stanstead Lodge Senior Club, which provides daytime activities for over 50s.
