To agree the public minutes and summary of the meeting held on 15 April 2016. Minutes: The public minutes of the meeting held on 15 April 2016 were considered and approved as a correct record.
MATTERS ARISING Appointment of Donation Governors (page 2) – The Chairman reported that, with Dennis Cotgrove now also due to step down from the Court of Common and, therefore, from this Committee, Members would now need to appoint three additional Donation Governors (one in the room of Dennis Cotgrove as Donation Governor for Francesca Shannon, one in the room of Lucy Frew as Donation Governor for Calvin Nifah and one as Donation Governor for the City’s chosen 2017 presentee) at their April 2017 meeting.
It was reported that Wendy Mead, whose presentee was set to leave the School this Summer, was content to act as Donation Governor for Francesca Shannon in the room of Dennis Cotgrove. Deputy Henry Pollard, whose presentee had left the School last Summer, was content to act as Donation Governor for Calvin Nifah in the room of Lucy Frew. The Town Clerk clarified that these appointments would need to be formalised at the April 2017 meeting and were also subject to these Members being re-elected to the Court of Common Council at the City’s all-out elections later this week.
The Chairman went on to refer to the existing vacancies on this Committee which would now be re-advertised to all Members at the May 2017 Court of Common Council meeting.
Freedom of the City – Corporal Leaky (page 2) – Several Members of the Committee, including the Chairman, commented that they had been privileged to attend the Freedom Ceremony for Corporal Leaky alongside several students from Christ’s Hospital, held at the Guildhall last year.

Questions on Matters Relating to the Work of the Committee Minutes: Governance Changes at Christ’s Hospital In response to a question from Members regarding ongoing Governance changes at Christ’s Hospital, the Development Officer undertook to provide the Committee with a written update on these for consideration at their next meeting in April 2017.
A Member commented that it was his understanding that the number of City representatives would remain the same under the new revised structure.
Maths Challenge in the City In response to a question, the Head of Admissions reported that 50 Christ’s Hospital pupils had run an event at Guildhall last week to promote the opportunities at the School to students in central London primary schools. He was pleased to report that the event had been a great success and had been attended by a total of 126 year 5 pupils from various different primary schools across London. |

Any Other Business That The Chairman Considers Urgent Minutes: Next meeting The Town Clerk reminded Members that the next meeting of this Committee would take place at 11.00am on Thursday 13th April and would be followed by lunch with all of the City’s Christ’s Hospital presentees and their parents/guardians in Guildhall Club from 12.30pm.
Stephen Hawkings’ Freedom Ceremony The Chairman reported that she had been delighted by the number of Christ’s Hospital students that were present at the recent ceremony held for Professor Stephen Hawkings when he received the Freedom of the City of London at Guildhall.
