Additional Information

Over the past 20 years, Ben has worked as a COO for several investment banks in the City of London, including Merrill Lynch, Bank of America, Deutsche Bank and UBS, primarily focused on growth in economic profitability, regulatory reform and digital transformation programs.

He was elected as a local councillor in Epping Forest in 2007 and served as both Deputy Mayor and later Mayor. During this time, he represented the authority on a range of outside organisations, including the Local Government Association, Police Authority and Royal British Legion.

With a passion for social mobility and ensuring the next generation of the city’s workers have the right skillsets to fuel the UK economy, Ben has served as Chair of Governors at a number of schools. He has partnered with the Department for Education and the Church of England to lead schools through Academy conversion and served as member of the City of London’s Education Board and as the Sponsor Trustee and Director of the City of London Academies Trust.

In November 2017, Ben was elected as a Common Councillor in the City of London representing the Ward of Bishopsgate, winning 68% of the vote. Ben was successfully re-elected in 2022 and 2025.  In this time, Ben has supported the creation of the Homelessness and Rough Sleeping Sub Committee, led the transformation of the City Corporation’s open spaces across London and the south-east and sought to modernise the Corporation’s operating environment.
