Alison Gowman CBE (Alderman)

Alison Gowman is a consultant at DLA Piper UK LLP following her City career as a senior partner specialising in real estate. She has worked on investment and development transactions with specialisations in insolvency and waste management working with many international businesses entering the UK market.  She has served on numerous City committees including as Chair of the City Bridge Trust (now called City Bridge Foundation) and of the City of London School for Girls.  Alison is the Corporation's Lead Member for the City's Climate Action Strategy, Biodiversity and Urban Greening. This is part of her long-term engagement with environmental issues during which she set up the City's first Sustainability and Energy subcommittee in 2010 and took a leading role in the City's Green Finance Initiative that led to the Green Finance Institute where she was a non-executive Director and Deputy Chair. 

She served as Sheriff of the City of London 2021-22.  She is the City's representative on the London Road Safety Council (Chair until July 2024).  She founded the Livery Climate Action Group that has garnered the largest number of members of any cross-Livery organisation. Alison serves as a Presiding Justice on the Central London bench.
